Just launched live last friday, the Grand Cove HOA site!
Nestled in Grand Bend, there is a pretty little community of people enjoying their retirement. This is a community of land leases, and representing the home-owners, is the Grand Cove HOA.
The former site was built on WIX, was hard to maintain, had issues with responsiveness, and was just getting older and out-of date. I created a new site for them using WordPress which includes:
- A calendar showing all the activities that are happening all in one place.
- An activities list with descriptions (a custom post type for all the WP nerds out there) for things to do for the residents.
- A news section, which can also have a date set, so, news about things happening also get added to the calendar.
- A photo area where residents can upload photos of them in action at their activities.
- Weekly email to all residents which include the upcoming week’s activities and last weeks news.
- Monetization of the site via advertising and business listings
- A login area for the residents to access the HOA specific items (like budget or minutes).
This was an interesting project as I created a number of plugins for the site that I am now using in other places. Also, did some drone-shots of the community to use in various places.
